As Toto prepares to accept the hunger strike baton from UK on this 11th day of the peaceful dharna, lets look at SAES’ untenable positions re Mirambika shift on 14/4 into an unsafe and not fit for integral education building:
i. DDA will take over the land if we do not start a college. Debunked through DDA SCN & CLA opinion.
ii. Optimal utilization of land. Debunked by PJ when he repeatedly said he would only run the college for 60 students for 2 years and then close it. Also, PJ cannot handpick students for courses at the engg college; they will be chosen through a common entrance exam.
iii. Some parents were about to obtain a stay against the proposed shift. Debunked by the AICTE application timeline. The parents did not even approach the Court on 14/4 for stay. They only went to Court in May after all their attempts to talk with PJ failed.
iv. AICTE asked the Mirambika building to be vacated for an engg college. Debunked by SAES affidavit stating that no school was running in the Mirambika building and that it was meant for an engg college.
v. To make financial ends meet. SAES is cash rich, all contributions to it are tax exempt and it receives regular foreign contributions.
vi. Both the residential Ashram premises and now the Matri Store building are fit for Mirambika’s purpose. Debunked by deficiencies pointed out in DOE inspection reports and by their criticism in the Court. No fire safety approval at either place.
vii. SAES can only move Mirambika back to its pre 14/4 premises after DDA okays that. Debunked through SAES inaction even post DDA SCN & CLA opinion.
viii. Only 9 parents are protesting against the 14/4 shift. Debunked by 36 more parents joining the original 9 and about 70 parent signatures on the letter of support.
ix. Sri Aurobindo & the Mother’s integral education philosophy remains intact despite SAES’ questionable actions re Mirambika. Debunked as integral education cannot be imparted sans integrity (which is visibly lacking in SAES actions) and neither of them supported degree / diploma giving college education standalone or to be given at the cost of school level integral education.
